Preliminary wholesale trade estimates for Nunavut between January and July showed a decrease of 45.3 per cent over the same period last year, Statistics Canada data shows.

About $30.2 million was recorded this year, compared to $55.2 million between January and July 2010.

"The percentage change figures for Nunavut are a reflection of the relatively small volumes of wholesale trade," the Nunavut Bureau of Statistics stated in a Sept. 20 news release.

Wholesale trade was largely unchanged in the Northwest Territories over the same period, with about $362.6 million in wholesale trade between January and July this year.

Nationally, wholesale trade estimates went up by about 6.9 per cent over the same period, the data shows, with estimates of about $327.7 billion across the country.
