A 14-year-old boy in Cambridge Bay was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a pick-up truck on Tuesday around 3:20 p.m.

The teenager, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the health centre by ambulance but was pronounced dead.

The accident occurred on a gravel road near the airport. The wreckage was on fire and the Cambridge Bay Fire Department scrambled to extinguish it.

A family of four in the pick-up truck were uninjured.

The police say no foul play is suspected and no charges are being considered in the incident. Mental health workers are available in the community to help family and friends in the grieving process.
