BAKER LAKE
A fisherman in Baker Lake, who went missing Aug. 24, still hadn't been found as of Monday.

What started as a search and rescue mission to find Joseph Hart, is now being considered a recovery, after his fishing rod and hip waders were found Aug. 25.

Hart, who was in Baker Lake visiting, was reported missing by his brother at approximately 9:45 p.m. Aug. 24, said Staff Sgt. Stephen Bergerman with the V Division RCMP.

Hart was last seen fishing alone off the shore in an area known as the Inukshuk.

Hart's brother reported him missing after observing his ATV sitting in the area, along with his shoes, socks, jacket, satellite phone and helmet. Hart was nowhere to be seen.

On the morning of Aug. 25, hip waders and a fishing rod were found about 15 metres off shore, said Bergerman.

As of Aug. 25, 37 boats and 100 volunteers had lent their assistance to the search, according to an RCMP press release. A local pilot also lent his services, flying five volunteers over the area. A helicopter equipped with three spotters was also deployed.

Hart's body had still not been located as of press deadline.

No foul play is suspected, according to RCMP.
