NUNAVUT
The Aviation Career Development Program has expanded its scholarship program to Nunavut.

Four scholarships are being provided by the Government of Nunavut and one by Keewatin Air LP, bringing the number of scholarships available for students in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories to 13.

"We are committed to supporting education and training for those working or wanting to work in Northern aviation," Nunavut Minister of Economic Development Transportation Peter Taptuna said in a written statement.

"All of us benefit when we can hire from the community the people we need, with the training and skills we require," Keewatin Air president Wayne McLeod added.

The scholarships are valued at $5,000, and available for students training for careers in Northern aviation. Aviation companies who have also provided scholarships include Discovery Air and Adlair Aviation.

The deadline for applying for scholarships through the program this year is July 29.
