The crowd filled the entire side parking area at the cargo building hoping to win one the day's special giveaways.

Vehicles and machines were parked on the sides of the road, stretching all the way to the stop sign across from the Kivalliq Air building.

Everyone who arrived at the gathering was given a ticket to be entered into a large draw featuring a number of high-end prizes.

Hamish Tatty of M&T said the company tries to hold a celebration on an annual basis.

He said it's a way for M&T to show its appreciation for all the support it's received over the years, and a chance to give a little something back to the community.

"My dad (Peter) was in town for about four days and he loves doing this kind of stuff, so I had him take care of it for us this year and he had a lot of fun," said Tatty.

"It went over pretty well, with a great turnout, and a lot of people seemed happy with how things went.

"The community has supported M&T for so long, and this is just one way for us to show our appreciation

for that support."

Tatty said he usually relies mainly on word of mouth to get the message around the community on when M&T is holding its anniversary celebration.

He said some years he does try to publicize it a bit more, but this year the company hit a slow time which provided the chance to have the bash.

"Things are starting to get pretty busy again, so when a little bit of slow time came along we had to get things done pretty quick.

"It was fun to bring my dad in to help out, and he really enjoyed handing out all the prizes and stuff.

"We drew for quite a few prizes this year, with our two top winners being Lana Sigurdson, who won a 64-gig iPad, and John Tatty Jr., who won a brand-new ATV."
