RCMP find man dead following hit-and-run complaint

RANKIN INLET - The community of Rankin Inlet was staggered by reports of a violent death in the community this past weekend.

The RCMP dispatch centre in Iqaluit received a complaint of a hit-and-run accident in Rankin Inlet on July 9.

Police in Rankin Inlet discovered a dead man upon attending the scene.

Members of the V Division major crimes unit and forensic services were flown to Rankin to assist with the investigation.

As of press time, the RCMP were not releasing the name of the man who died or any other details relating to the incident.
