SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Alex Arychuk, one of the founders of Discovery Air, and his wife Sheila are suing the company for wrongful dismissal.

According to the notes in Discovery Air's latest annual financial statements, the two former officers of the Yellowknife-headquartered company are seeking $1.8 million plus costs and interest.

The notes state that the Arychuks are demanding payment of $1.1 million in promissory notes owed to them by Discovery Air subsidiary Air Tindi.

"Management believes the claims are without merit and has filed a statement of defence," the notes read.

Neither side in the legal proceeding was immediately available for comment, but Alex Arychuk said in an earlier interview that he was forced out of Discovery after an internal struggle for control of the company pulled together by London, Ont., banker David Taylor.
