SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - With the advanced polls now closed, and the day to register to vote by special ballot now passed, the last opportunity to vote will be on Election Day on Monday, May 2.

Polling Stations
  • Range Lake School
  • Sir John Franklin High School
  • Shorty Brown Arena in the Multiplex
  • Tree of Peace
  • Ndilo Community Gymnasium
  • Chief Drygeese Government Building

There are four central polling stations in the city: Range Lake School, Sir John Franklin High School, Shorty Brown Arena in the Multiplex and the large boardroom at the Tree of Peace.

In Ndilo, people can vote at the Ndilo Community Gymnasium and in Dettah, voters can mark their ballots at the Chief Drygeese Government Building, according to Elizabeth Wyman, returning officer

for the Western Arctic Electoral District.

Voters should bring photo identification displaying their current address or, if photo identification does not correspond to their current address, voters must also bring a piece of mail or a utility or phone bill which states their current address.

Polls are open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

"You can register at the poll site but you have to go to the correct poll site in your area," said Wyman.

She said the poll site is associated with the individual's residential address and to find out which poll an address corresponds to, she invites voters to call the Elections Canada office if they have not already registered or are currently not on the Elections Canada voters' list.
