THEBACHA/FORT SMITH - Residents of Fort Smith now have a new and unique way to get in shape and lose weight.

On Jan. 3, Mountie Boot Camp was launched at the Fort Smith Recreation Centre by instructor Const. Andrew Moore of the RCMP.

Moore said the twice-a-week fitness challenge, which will run for six weeks, is partially based on training exercises for RCMP recruits.

Mountie Boot Camp has proven to be a hit. On the first evening, 17 people showed up to be guided through a series of exercises – running, lifting weights, stretching, skipping rope, jumping jacks, sit-ups and much more.
