Kusugak new Rankin mayor

RANKIN INLET - Pujjuut Kusugak swept to power as mayor of Rankin Inlet during the municipal election this past Monday.

As many predicted, candidate Robert Janes and incumbent John Hickes split a large number of votes, opening the door for an overwhelming majority for Kusugak.

The final results had Kusugak tallying 323 votes, followed by Janes with 177 and Hickes with 159.
