IQALUIT - The Iqaluit District Education Authority is looking for new members.

"Those people who are wanting to be active in children's education should put their name forward," said Kirt Ejesiak, chief returning officer for this year's elections.

He said the education authority oversees "the governance of the schools at the community level."

Recent changes to the Education Act have seen curriculum being more reflective of Inuit values, said Ejesiak.

The DEA is looking for three new members. To be eligible, applicants have to be 18 years old and have lived in Iqaluit for one year and be a current resident.

Nominations must be received by 3 p.m. on Nov. 12.

Forms can be picked up at Nakasuk School, from Ejesiak or online at www.deaelections.ca.

The election will be on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the cadet hall.
