Moses Aupaluktuq: Baker Lake MLA is facing two liquor-related charges after the RCMP charged him with unlawful possession of liquor earlier this month.

Aupaluktuq has been charged with unlawful possession of liquor following an incident in Baker on Oct. 1.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance regarding that charge on Nov. 30.

That's the same date Aupaluktuq is scheduled to make his next court appearance in relation to a charge of being in care and control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol stemming from an incident that happened in Baker on Nov. 7, 2009.

Baker Lake RCMP Const. Justin Dickens confirmed the latest charge, but would not release any further information on the matter.

"We can't disclose any further details on the investigation, other than the charge, at this point in time," said Dickens.

"I just addressed the situation with hamlet council during my monthly report, so the hype, or concern, in the community about the charge has just been brought up recently."
