QAMANITTUAQ/BAKER LAKE - Baker Lake MLA Moses Aupaluktuq is now facing a second liquor-related charge in his home community.

Aupaluktuq has been charged with unlawful possession of liquor following an alleged incident in Baker on Oct. 1.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance regarding that charge on Nov. 30. That's the same date Aupaluktuq is scheduled to make his next court appearance in relation to a charge of being in care and control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

That incident happened in Baker on Nov. 7, 2009.

Baker RCMP Const. Justin Dickens confirmed the latest charge, but would not release any further information on the matter.

"We can't disclose any further details on the investigation, other than the charge, at this point in time," said Dickens.

"I just addressed the situation with hamlet council during my monthly report, so the hype, or concern, in the community about the charge has just been brought up recently."
