LIIDLII KUE/FORT SIMPSON - As stakeholders and observers continue to await the end of the Mackenzie Gas Project permitting process, residents of the Deh Cho region are still showing interest in the long-delayed project, says Kevin Heron, Imperial Oil's pipeline benefits adviser for the Deh Cho.

"Overall, people are still interested in the project. They're following any announcements, wanting a clear understanding of what's happening," said Heron.

Did the recent procedural delay between the Joint Review Panel and the Government of Canada have people scratching their heads?

"There may have been some mild confusion, but most people following it in the media and the newspapers have a clear understanding," he said. He added people are still showing interest in the job opportunities associated with the pipeline.

"We still receive a lot of resumes from the Northwest Territories and also from other places in Canada.Of course, the south having a larger population, more will come from the south."
