RANKIN INLET - A second man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a brutal stabbing death in Rankin Inlet earlier this month.

RCMP charged Colin Makpah, 26, of Rankin with manslaughter this past week after previously charging Abraham Nakoolak, 26, also of Rankin, with manslaughter two days earlier.

The RCMP had responded to a call to a local residence at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 14. Upon arrival RCMP found D.J. (Donald James) Gamble, 23, of Rankin laying on the steps outside the residence.

Gamble had reportedly been stabbed several times following an altercation that began at a party.

Gamble was immediately transported to the Kivalliq Regional Health Centre, where he succumbed to his wounds while health centre staff were trying to stabilize him.

An autopsy has been completed and the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP are asking anyone with more information, or who may have witnessed the act and still not spoken to police, to please contact the Rankin Inlet detachment of the RCMP or to phone Crime Stoppers.
