Small scale season

QAMANNITUAQ/BAKER LAKE - Forum Uranium Corp. spent a modest $400,000 on its summer exploration season at the North Thelon Project.

The project, located 60 km west of Baker Lake, is surrounded by a number of other high-profile projects: to the north, Agnico-Eagle's Meadowbank gold mine; to the west, Areva Resources Canada 's Kiggavik uranium project.

"This year we had a crew of eight (people)," said Rick Mazur, president of Forum. "We hired two fellows from Baker Lake to work as prospector, sampler types. That was the type of work we were doing."

Despite Meadowbank's employing more than 100 people from the Kivalliq region, finding local help for its own project was not difficult for Forum, which relied on the help of a community liaison officer with the Kivalliq Inuit Association.

"It was only short-term work for them. There's certain guys that are interested in short-term work, so yeah, it was no problem," said Mazur.

Forum's share price as of Friday, Aug. 19 was $0.095.
