The driver, who gave his name as Raj Nunkoo, said he did not black out, nor did he believe he hit the accelerator when his silver Dodge Ram smashed through the window of The Artistic Hound pet shop at Stanton Plaza around 11:30 a.m.

"I tried to stop," said Nunkoo. "I don't know what happened."

The extended cab truck was wedged into the building past the driver's door. Shattered glass and other debris lay scattered, but no one was apparently hurt.

Eyewitness Mackenzie Hotte-Joyce, 13, said the truck pulled up in front of the store and sat there for 20 or 30 seconds before the truck lunged forward.

A crowd had gathered to watch and snap photos as workers tried to remove the truck.

Nunkoo said he did not expect to be charged "because it was an accident."

RCMP officers were on scene, but would not discuss details of the incident.
