NUNAVUT - There is now more money and more time to take advantage of the Nunavut Housing Corporation's Homeowner Energy Efficiency Rebate Program.

The housing corp. announced on April 1 that the deadline for interested homeowners to apply has been extended by one year and the rebate amount available has doubled.

The program is designed to help homeowners make their residences more energy efficient.

Under the terms, the housing corp. will now provide a 50 per cent rebate for eligible costs up to a maximum of $2,000. Purchases have to be made between Sept.1, 2007 and March 31, 2011.

Those homeowners who have received assistance previously can make additional claims.

Application forms are available at local housing organizations, at the housing corp. district offices in Cape Dorset and Cambridge Bay, the housing corporation's headquarters in Arviat and at the housing corp. directorate office in Iqaluit.
