IQALUIT - An Iqaluit woman who went missing on Dec. 11 was found deceased on Dec. 12, according to RCMP Sgt. Jimmy Akavak.

The body of thirty-nine-year-old Lindsay Hudson was found on the land outside Iqaluit's Road to Nowhere by ground search and rescue workers at approximately 3 p.m. on Dec. 12, Akavak said.

She was last seen walking her dogs on the road from Iqaluit to Apex at lunchtime on  Dec. 11, according to an RCMP press release. "Hudson may have left the roadway and wandered onto the open land," an earlier release stated.

Hudson had been wearing a red jacket, khaki overalls, brown leather boots, a black fur hat, black winter gloves and was carrying an orange and black backpack.

Iqaluit's Emergency Medical Operations unit, RCMP and Iqaluit Search and Rescue were working to locate Hudson, the release also said. Akavak said many community members also assisted in the search.

"Community members really came together," he said.

The coroner's office has ordered an autopsy, he noted.
