SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - A 29-year-old woman from Newfoundland was pronounced dead at Stanton Territorial Hospital on Sunday morning and RCMP are calling her death "suspicious in nature."

Tara Michelle Osmond was found unresponsive in a Raven's Court apartment.

RCMP Const. Wayne Norris said police are investigating and interviewing witnesses. He said the woman was found at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

"The circumstances are still being investigated to determine the exact cause of Osmond's death," he said.

Norris said an autopsy will be performed.

Another woman died suddenly in Behchoko on Sunday. Police are investigating and awaiting autopsy results, but said her death is not considered suspicious.

RCMP said a 51-year-old woman was found unconscious in her home. She was later pronounced dead at the Mary Adele Bishop Health Centre.

The woman's name won't be released until her family has been notified.
