NAUJAT/REPULSE BAY - Repulse Bay RCMP have arrested a man, after a woman carrying her two-year-old child in her amouti was robbed by knife point near the hamlet building on Sept. 26.

The woman was walking home past the office at about 5 p.m. when she was approached from behind by "an unknown person," said police.

According to police, the man was wearing a black ski mask.

He grabbed her purse from her left arm and proceeded to back away. He was holding a knife pointed toward the woman, said police.

Reportedly, the victim asked the man "What are you doing?" but the man said nothing throughout the attack.

After robbing the woman, police said the man fled on foot toward the hamlet building. In turn the woman ran home and told family what happened. She was not hurt and reported the incident to RCMP later that night. Police later found the mask.

"In a small town (this) is a big story," said RCMP Sgt. Jimmy Akavak. "It's dangerous and the community is in shock."
