Body found on front steps of home
Andrew Livingstone Northern News Services Published Wednesday, July 29, 2009
RCMP received a call just before 9 a.m. about a person on the front steps of a home in the trailer park. Const. Kathy Law said the home where the woman's body was found was not hers and police have turned the investigation over to the territorial coroner's office. "(The death) is not deemed suspicious," Law said. The woman's next of kin have been notified but her name has not been released. As part of the routine police investigation, residents of the trailer park were questioned but Law said no one was able to provide any information about what happened in the time leading up to the discovery of the woman's body. Her whereabouts immediately prior to her death are also unknown. NWT chief coroner Garth Eggenberger said an autopsy has been performed but no details of what was found are available yet. "It'll be some time before we have all the information," he said, adding he wouldn't give any preliminary information either.
