LIIDLII KUE/FORT SIMPSON - Staff with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources are continuing to monitor the cougar situation in Fort Simpson. The last cougar sighting was on July 17 when an animal was seen on the airstrip headed towards the golf course, said Carl Lafferty, the manager of wildlife and environment for the Deh Cho region. Since then there haven't been any sightings and Lafferty said he's hopeful the cougar has moved on.

Residents are still cautioned to practise safety measures.
