Break-in at Nova Coast Plaza
Herb Mathisen Northern News Services Published Wednesday, May 20, 2009
"It was a break-and-enter," said RCMP Const. Kathy Law Friday afternoon, adding investigators told her they had only found evidence of property damage. "There was nothing that we know of that was stolen," she said. "They weren't able to get into the government offices." Law said it appeared someone had kicked in a window at the back of the building before making their way inside. Environment Canada has offices on the fourth floor of the four-storey building on 52 Street. When contacted, an Environment Canada spokesperson in Ottawa directed all questions relating to the incident to the Yellowknife RCMP. No calls were returned by the local Environment Canada officials in Yellowknife. On Friday afternoon, a Nova Coast Plaza window adjacent to the back alley was still smashed in and had not yet been boarded up. |
