SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Police are seeking help from the public in identifying two assailants who attacked a 25-year-old Yellowknife woman in grocery store parking lot last Wednesday.

The woman was in the parking lot of Extra Foods on Old Airport Road when she was attacked by a man and woman, both described as between 35 and 40-years-old, said RCMP Const. Stephanie Ward.

"She was just doing her shopping like anyone else," said Ward of the seemingly 0unprovoked attack.

Ward said the woman has since had to leave Yellowknife on business but will return, and at that time, police hope to get more information about the assailants. Currently no other description of the two suspects are available.

"Two men came to her aid at the end of the altercation," Ward said.

She said RCMP hope the two men will come forward to help in the investigation, as well as anyone else who witnessed the incident. Police are also canvassing the area for any video surveillance footage that might have been caught by nearby businesses.

Ward said the victim did not have any injuries, but "of course she was shaken up."

The incident is still under investigation, so police are not releasing any more details of what occurred during the assault.
