LLI GOLINE/NORMAN WELLS - A 21-year-old man has been charged with stabbing another man after an altercation in Norman Wells.

Lindsay McNeely of Norman Wells has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with the stabbing.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 15 Norman Wells RCMP responded to a complaint about a disturbance at a residence. Police found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Sgt. Wayne Norris of the RCMP would not comment specifically on the injuries but said the weapon used was a knife.

The victim was transported to the Norman Wells Health Centre for treatment. A short time later McNeely entered the health centre seeking medical attention for injuries sustained during what police believe to be the same incident.

"The matter is being investigated and during the course of that investigation they determined that these charges were appropriate for the evidence that they obtained," Norris said.

Both men were transported to Stanton Regional Hospital in Yellowknife for further medical treatment and their injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
