SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - RCMP responded to reports of two stabbings last week.

The first incident occurred at a downtown hotel Thursday at roughly 8:30 p.m. Police were called to the scene, where they were informed a 41-year-old Yellowknife man involved in the incident had been taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital. He was treated for a small stab wound to his lower back, according to RCMP Const. Kathy Law.

The wounded man, Law said, was "being uncooperative" with authorities, refusing to give information about the incident.

He "wouldn't tell them what or who," she said.

"No arrests have been made," Law said Friday. "There are no suspects at this time."

The second incident was called in to police Friday at around 5:30 a.m. RCMP arrived at a Range Lake residence to find a 36-year-old man in the doorway with small scratches to his lower back. He did not require medical treatment for his injuries.

Kristopher Arden, 32, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He will appear in court on Jan. 27. Both men involved were from Yellowknife.

"They knew each other," said Law of the two men involved in the incident.

She said there was an altercation between the two that escalated into an assault.

The two incidents are not believed to be related, Law said.
