Hub drug bust Paul Bickford Northern News Services Published Monday, September 29, 2008
The seizures were the result of searches of two Hay River residences on Sept. 19. The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending against two men from the Edmonton area. The Alberta men were arrested and later released while the investigation proceeds. Sgt. Ron Rose of the Hay River RCMP detachment would not disclose how much drugs were seized, other than to say it was a "quite substantial" amount. Nor would he say how much money was seized. "I really can't divulge much because of the ongoing investigation," Rose said last week. However, he did say that other drug busts in Hay River over the last year have been larger. The recent investigation was launched as a result of an anonymous tip about suspicious activity. RCMP expressed thanks to Hay River residents who continue to report suspicious activity.
