    Forest fire operations scaled back

SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Firefighting operations have been scaled back on the forest fires south of Behchoko and the fire that threatened the Snare Hydro power facility last month.

"Those fires are just being monitored," said Judy McLinton, spokesperson for Environment and Natural Resources.

Both fires got some much needed rain over the weekend, said McLinton.

She said ENR hasn't mapped the fires since last week.

The last map of the Edzo fire put the blaze at around 71,000 hectares in size; the Snare fire was burning around 68,000 hectares.

"Nothing is being threatened at this point," said McLinton.
