SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - A downtown Yellowknife residence suspected of being a centre for drug trafficking was raided by the RCMP early on Saturday, July 5.

The Yellowknife RCMP searched the 53 Street house after obtaining a warrant.

The search resulted in a seizure of approximately six grams of crack cocaine, nine Tylenol 3 tablets and half an ounce of marijuana.

"I presume if (the police) seized them they were either not in a prescription bottle or not being utilized as prescribed," said RCMP Const. Roxanne Dreilich in reference to the seizure of the Tylenol 3 pills.

Dreilich acknowledged the amount of drugs was not large, but could be enough for trafficking.

During the search, 15 people were detained by police and six were arrested. One Yellowknife woman is facing a charge of possession of cocaine.

Whether or not others arrested in the search will face criminal charges was unclear as of Wednesday.

"I don't know for sure. I know that the investigation is ongoing, so certainly it is a possibility," said Dreilich.

The woman facing a charge of possession was not listed as a resident of the home, but her listed residence was not current, according to Dreilich. Details surrounding what led to RCMP obtaining a search warrant were not disclosed by police.
