YELLOWKNIFE - A worker was medevaced to Stanton Territorial Hospital with unspecified injuries after an accident at the Snare Hydro Power Plant, Wednesday.

Vaughn Slade, with the NWT Power Corporation, which runs the power plant approximately 140 km northwest of Yellowknife, said the injured worker is an employee of Hay River-based Carter Industries - a contractor for the power company.

Dave Grundy, director of communications and information for the Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission, said the incident is currently under investigation and the commission could not give more details of the accident other than to confirm there was an injury.

"Some of it's speculation, so we're just trying to find out exactly what went on," said Grundy.

Carter Industries declined to give any further information other than to say that the incident is under investigation.
