SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Police are reporting a woman was sexually assaulted early Friday morning around midnight while walking on Frame Lake Trail between the Yellowknife Community Arena and Stanton Territorial Hospital.

The woman was standing near the lake watching the sunset when she was attacked from behind by an unknown male.

The suspect is described as an aboriginal man of medium build and shorter than 5 feet 8 inches in height. At the time of the assault he was reported to have been wearing a white t-shirt with a logo on the front and lettering on the back and black pants.

Police hadn't identified a suspect as of Friday at 10:30 a.m.

"We don't have anybody who we're looking at at this time. We just have the descriptor," said RCMP Sgt. Larry O'Brien.

"We're asking if anyone who may have been in the area, might have some idea of who this individual may be or might have been in the area and seen someone matching that description."
