SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Charges of assault with a weapon are pending against a 32-year-old woman after she attempted to use a power tool in an assault on her former boyfriend, according to police.
The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at the home of the 47-year-old man. The woman is accused of punching him in the face and grabbing a power tool when the man was able to flee.
"I believe it was referred to as a riveter," Const. Roxanne Dreilich said of the tool used in the assault. RCMP arrested the woman without incident.
Father and son spat
A 52-year-old man reported being punched in the face by his 19-year-old son while driving on the evening of Tuesday, June 17. The son fled the vehicle but was later located by RCMP in the downtown Yellowknife.
"I don't know exactly what prompted the altercation," said Const. Dreilich. Assault charges are now pending against the son.
Dragged by hair - girlfriend
In the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 18 RCMP responded to a report of an altercation on 51 Street near the Side Door Youth Centre.
A 22-year-old Fort Good Hope woman and a 26-year-old man from Wahti were involved in an altercation and both arrested.
The man is now facing charges of assault after the woman alleged he had dragged her by the hair.
"The officers on scene didn't see that, but she had stated he had been pushing her and smacking her," said Const. Dreilich.
The woman was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated matter.
