SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Stanton Territorial Health Authority's director of operations has been fired.

Donna Zaozirny, who served in the position for at least 10 years, was let go two weeks ago.

"The director of operations is essentially responsible to direct and manage the non-patient care areas of Stanton, like facilities management, clinic services, information management," said Sylvia Haener, CEO of Stanton.

Haener and Al Woods, public administrator of Stanton, would not speak to the firing, calling it an internal human resources issue.

The position is currently being advertised and will not be filled for six to eight weeks.

Robin Greig is acting in the position, said Haener.

"It's within the privy of the (public administrator), the CEO and the management there," said Sandy Lee, Minister of Health and Social Services, on June 9.
