SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - Yellowknife RCMP is again asking for information regarding a sexual assault against a 19-year-old woman on the Frame Lake Trail on June 6.

Police have released a description of the person believed to have witnessed the assault. He is described as an aboriginal male in his 30s or 40s, with grey-tinged dark hair, the start of a beard and a weathered face.

RCMP also stated that several people were on the trail between the hours of 11 p.m. and midnight, around the time of the assault. None of those individuals who were walking, jogging, riding bikes and walking their dogs in the area at the time are suspects, but they may have seen or heard something that could help in the investigation, police say.

"Some of these people on the trail may have seen someone or witnessed something or heard something that at the time they probably didn't think about but in hindsight it may actually have something to do with this investigation," said RCMP Sgt. Larry O'Brien.

"We're trying to get people, if they were on the trail that evening, to make their way in here and speak to our investigators

"Police are asking anyone who was on Frame Lake Trail between 10:30 p.m. June 5 and 1 a.m. on June 6 to contact Yellowknife RCMP.

The victim was treated at hospital and released.
