The show and sale will be a bit of a send-off for the talented artist who is heading south to Calgary for a year in search of new challenges and new opportunities as well as a chance to paint in a different part of Canada.

Peters has spent most of his time in Yellowknife as drama teacher at Sir John Franklin high school.

His paintings are being assembled into a collection of nearly 100 pieces to be displayed at Northern United Place. The four-hour show begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

It will feature a colorful collection of Northern-themed oil and acrylic paintings of landscapes, animals, village shacks and imagery ubiquitous to Yellowknife and the NWT.

"I've worked hard at this. Painting is really my passion," said Peters.

"When someone buys one of my paintings and displays it in their home, I feel it's an honor and it really makes me happy to know they like my work enough to display it."

The exhibit will be a chance for fans to say hello to the artist once again before his trip.

It's also a chance for people to secure a painting of their own to decorate that empty wall.
