SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE - RCMP are investigating a charge of solicitation of sex after an allegation from a woman in a common-law relationship claimed her spouse offered her to other men for sex in exchange for drugs.

"Nothing at this point has been confirmed. It's an allegation at this point and still under investigation," said Const. Roxanne Dreilich.

Child's play

RCMP arrested three youth on June 5 after a report of a possible break-in at J.H. Sissons school.

At roughly 11:15 p.m. police at the scene found two girls, ages 14 and 15, and a 15-year-old male standing near a damaged rear door of the school.

"They had already exited the building when they were located outside," said Dreilich.

The youth were all arrested and taken into custody. A variety of charges are pending including breaking and entering.

Woman says she was beaten twice

A 21-year-old woman reported being assaulted twice by a 24-year-old man on June 8.

At around 1 a.m. the woman reported the man throwing a beer can at her face and pushing her into a wall.

The man fled the scene before police arrived and returned a few hours later and assaulted the woman a second time, according to police.

"She knew he hadn't been apprehended," said Dreilich. "She was taking steps to avoid him."

The man again fled after the second assault before police arrival, but was located at a residence after a call came into police. He was arrested without incident.

Assault discovered after disturbance call

A 49-year-old woman who was the cause of a complaint by a resident was located by RCMP and found to have been assaulted on June 5.

An individual informed police that the woman was causing a disturbance in a residence. The woman fled before police arrived, but was later located and discovered to have been kicked in the face and leg.

"The call was originally for a disturbance in the apartment. She gave her account of what happened and that resulted in the assault charge," said Dreilich.

Police returned to the same residence and took a 44-year-old man into custody.
