YELLOWKNIFE - RCMP arrested two men and seized 260 grams of marijuana worth between $5,000 to $6,000 after searching a Bourque Drive home early Saturday morning.

"It was definitely a large enough amount to indicate trafficking," said RCMP Const. Roxanne Dreilich.

The drug was found after the RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit searched the residence at around 5:30 a.m. Dec. 1.

Dreilich was unable to say whether the search was part of a larger investigation.

The two men, one 39, the other 40, were both arrested when the police entered the house. In the subsequent search, officers discovered the marijuana and an unregistered firearm.

Sgt. Vic Steinhammer of the Yellowknife detachment said the firearm was not a restricted weapon. Police declined to identify the men.

They were both later released and charges of trafficking in a controlled substance are pending, said Dreilich.
