NUNAVUT - Nunavummiut went to the polls on Dec. 10 to elect their community mayors and council members.

The weather didn't play a factor, and polls were open across the territory.

Resolute had the highest voter turnout at 75%. Cambridge Bay had the poorest showing at only 27% or 198 of its 741 eligible voters.

Residents of Kimmirut, Gjoa Haven, Kugluktuk and Hall Beach didn't have to bother going to the polls, as all of their candidates were acclaimed.

The tightest race was in Cape Dorset, where only 18 votes separated the council candidate with the most votes and the one with the fourth most.

The fifth and final candidate was shy only seven votes of being on council.
