YELLOWKNIFE - Week after week, dozens of visual artists in Yellowknife spend hours creating work for exhibitions, for sale or just for fun.

People may think of traditional artwork when they think of the NWT, but on top of that, Yellowknife is home to artists of varying styles and methods.

From Diane Boudreau's Urban Art murals to T-Bo's diamonds and jewelry, this city has it all. On a trek around town on any given day, visitors can stop into several studios and galleries to take a peek at some of these artists at work. Frozen Rock Studio/Gallery, the Ashoona Family Studio and North Soul Glass Studio among others are all open to the interested public.

On top of all the professional artists in town are a number of budding artists, including many of the city's high school students. Programs at the schools help students build their artistic skills.

And for adults who wish to pick up a new art form, classes and workshops are offered year-round by various artistic organizations.
