Officers with metal detectors scoured a small ravine near the northern-end of Riverview Drive on Nov. 21 and 22. The search site is roughly a half-kilometre from the location on Woodland Drive where Worden was shot and killed on Oct. 6.
When a metal detector sounded, officers used picks and shovels to dig through the snow and into the ground. Sometimes they found cans, car parts and other discarded items.
The search involved about eight officers from the RCMP's major crime units in both Yellowknife and Edmonton.
"They received information that there may be some evidence in that area," said Sgt. Larry O'Brien, the media relations officer with the RCMP's G Division headquarters in Yellowknife.
O'Brien could not say what evidence the police were seeking.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity on the western shore of the Hay River during the early morning hours of Oct. 6 to contact the nearest detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Worden was fatally shot in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 while on duty in Hay River.
An Alberta man, Emrah Bulatci, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Worden's death.
