YELLOWKNIFE - A 26-year-old woman reported being held against her will by her boyfriend at a house party in the early morning hours of Sunday Nov. 11.

"He took her to a separate room in the house," said Const. Roxanne Dreilich, of the RCMP's community policing unit, who also said that there was a struggle between the two in the room. Dreilich was unable to say how many other people were in the home at the time of the incident. The woman sustained multiple bruises to her head and face.

The man was located and arrested, and later released with an order to have no contact with the victim. The man faces charges of forcible confinement and assault when he returns to court in January.

Man charged with harassing ex-spouse

A 31-year-old woman and her 36-year-old boyfriend reported being harassed throughout the month of October by the woman's ex-spouse. Dreilich said there were details of the ongoing investigation which she could not divulge.

"There were a variety of things that happened related to the charge," she said, but did say that things got physical on one occasion, and the 38-year-old suspect will be facing two counts of assault against the woman as well as two counts of criminal harassment over the period of the month.

Man shoved outside mall

A 33-year-old man has been charged with assault after a 46-year-old man reported being pushed to the ground on Franklin Avenue near the Centre Square Mall at around 7:40 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 5.

Dreilich said the victim did not say whether the shoving was the result of an altercation. The victim did not sustain any injuries. The younger man will be appearing in court sometime in January.
