Unfortunately, the two teams did not win, but one player won an award.

Glen Tingmiak won for most sportsmanlike player in the whole tournament.

Glen went down to the land of gold nuggets with his brother Pat. They played for opposing teams.

The two brothers have been playing slo-pitch and fastball for many years.

Pat said he enjoys playing the game and is used to facing off against his younger sibling.

"It's always fun to play against Glen," said Pat.

"We were on different teams this year, but we've played on the same side before."

The tournament is a regular occurrence for the brothers, who have attended the last three years together.

He said he has been to the last six of the Labour Day slo-pitch playoffs in Dawson.

Glen said the teamwork on his squad was good, because the players are used to playing with each other.

"We played well, we won four games and lost three," said Glen.

Exciting games and good weather contributed to the long weekend fun, said Glen.

"We had great weather the whole time we were there," he said.

For his brother Pat, playing the left field was nice as well.

"I'm very competitive," said Pat.

"I'm happy with how our team played overall."

Both teams ran fundraisers to pay for the trip to the Yukon. Pat said his team made a lot from the beer gardens in local tournaments earlier this year.

The trip was not all about baseball though. The brothers were able to spend some time on the greens in Dawson, playing golf.

"I wanted to play a little more, but there was so much baseball going on," said Pat.

"We took in the sights, all the regular stuff you do in Dawson."

The tournament marked the true end to the local season.

Glen said he is sad to see it end.

"Yeah, the season is done for this year, but we all had a good summer," he said.
