YELLOWKNIFE - Tickets are still available for one of the biggest concerts of the year.

Rockin' the Rocks, will feature a number of bands from here and away including headlining act Hedley. Gary Hubert of Aurora Productions said on Wednesday that there were about 800 tickets sold so far, leaving nearly 500 available.

Since Aurora Productions first announced the show, the lineup has been completed.

Along with Hedley, the show will also include performances by Faberdrive, Priscilla's Revenge, 3-Across-Dee-Eye, Godson and the most recent addition to the list, Transience.

"I think their style of music sort of goes on with this type of event," Hubert said of Transience, the opening act. "I think it's geared for this type of event and the age of their music will appeal to all."

Rumours that Ed the Sock of Much Music would be hosting the event nearly proved to be true, but the timing just wasn't right.

"What happened is that the possibility of him coming up was very late in the event, and by the time arrangements and that had been made it was too late into the venture," said Hubert. "Instead we got Zack the man Taylor."

Taylor is a radio personality with CJCD Mix 100 Radio, and Hubert felt he would be an appropriate choice.

"I normally like to use local DJ talents again, for promoting and honing skills for the North," he said.

The event, which is to take place at the Folk on the Rocks site, is ready for an all-ages crowd.

Hubert said a beer garden would be made available for audience members older than 19, but not at a separate stage such as the one offered at the summer festival.

"There'll be a beer garden and it'll be very close... they'll have a great view of the main stage right from the beer garden," he said.

If this year's Rockin' the Rocks concert goes well, Hubert is planning on turning this into an annual event.

He said he is confident the bands will be a hit.

"Faberdrive and Hedley are just going to blow this town away," he said.

The doors will open at 2 p.m. Saturday and Transience will open the show at 4 p.m.
