IQALUIT - On the eve of what was to turn out to be a crime-filled weekend, windows were broken and a fire was started at the Aqsarniit Ilinniarvik Middle School in Iqaluit.
On Friday, July 6, two females were seen leaving the scene after an alarm was sounded.
There has been no estimate on the cost of water and fire damage and no charges have yet been laid.
Meanwhile, Jay Wisintainer of Iqaluit was arrested and charged for trafficking in a controlled substance and conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance. Just over four pounds of marijuana (1,850 grams) was seized during a search warrant on Feb. 7 of this year.
Wisintainer has been released from custody on an undertaking and will appear in court on Nov. 5, 2007.
