YELLOWKNIFE - A prized carving was stolen from the owner of a 53rd Street business between late June 14 and early June 15, RCMP spokeswoman Roxanne Dreilich said.

The RCMP were at the scene at approximately 6:00 a.m. June 15.

The carving - described by Dreilich as "sizeable" - depicts a mother polar bear and its cub on a base of green-hued slate.

"I know that he's very concerned about getting it back," said Dreilich of the business owner.

"It's worth a fair amount of money. He indicated the value to be two to three thousand dollars. "Judging from the photo, it's probably the size of a large bowl."

A Tobisha laptop computer was also taken from the building. Dreilich added that the owner chose not to disclose the name of his business.

"The investigation is ongoing," she said.
