INVUIK/YELLOWKNIFE - The man accused of shooting an Inuvik cab driver is now being held at the North Slave Correctional Facility in Yellowknife, waiting for his day in court.
Edward Allen Snowshoe, 21, was transferred from an Inuvik holding cell March 27.
He is waiting to appear before a supreme court judge, where he is expected to face charges of armed robbery and wearing a disguise to commit an offense.
As of May 1, no date for the hearing had been set.
However, court records indicate Snowshoe elected to be tried by a single judge, rather than a jury.
He is charged with shooting 21-year-old driver Khalid Elkhatib in the back on March 1, during a early-morning carjacking a few minutes outside Inuvik.
As of April 1, Snowshoe currently faces two charges under the criminal code.
Until the case is presented in court by prosecutors, however, it is possible other charges may be added.
Court records indicate snowshoe has two prior convictions for breaking and entering, which date back to January 2004.
