Book used as a weapon, police say

YELLOWKNIFE - Police are investigating a report of assault with a weapon after an incident in the Yellowknife Public Library on March 26.

Two 14-year old suspects are being investigated for reportedly picking on a nine-year old boy.

During an altercation, the youths allegedly pulled the chair out from under the nine-year old and threw an atlas at him.

The police are considering the atlas as a weapon.

Man confronts 12-year-old in home

Charges are being laid against a 28 year-old male for a residential break and entering on March 29.

A 12-year old youth was at home alone when a man entered the house and confronted the youth. The child contacted his parents, who called the RCMP.

Police attended the scene to find the 28 year-old still hanging around, he reportedly had offered the 12-year-old some money.

Police arrested the man.

Man reports phone harassment

Police are investigating a series of harassing phone calls.

A 47-year old male reported receiving up to 17 phone calls a day from a woman with whom he had a previous relationship.

Man takes nap in car

Police responded to a call on the afternoon of March 30 from a person who reported seeing another driver they suspected was intoxicated.

The driver was suspicious as the car was parked on the sidewalk in front of the Movie Gallery (previously VHQ) on Old Airport Road.

RCMP attended the scene but found no evidence of alcohol or drug consumption. The driver in the car admitted that he was very tired. Police issued a 24-hour suspension and parked the vehicle legally.

The driver then went home to "take a nap and catch some Z's" said Const. Roxanne Dreilich.

Man missing from boarding home

Police are still searching for a 33-year-old male from Taloyoak missing from the Kitikmeot Boarding Home since March 28.

The man was in Yellowknife for medical reasons and left the boarding house Wednesday afternoon, and hasn't been heard from since.
