FORT MACPHERSON - Two men from Fort McPherson are scheduled to appear in territorial court, after being charged with assault.

Travis Joel Jerome is scheduled to appear in territorial court on May 24, and faces one charge of assault under section 266 of the Criminal Code.

Lawrence Ronald Francis, meanwhile, faces one charge of causing bodily harm under section 267 (B) of the criminal code.

"When you throw a punch and there is blood, it becomes bodily harm as opposed to assault," said Fort McPherson RCMP Constable Calvin Roberts, adding no weapons were involved.

While Roberts would not comment on the specifics of the cases, he added both men are believed to have been drinking before the fight happened.

"It involved alcohol," he said.

Francis is scheduled to appear before the territorial court sometime in July.
