FORT SMITH - No foul play is suspected in the death of a Saskatchewan man at a remote lake in the southeastern corner of the NWT.

On March 25, the body of a male was discovered at a winter camp on Obre Lake, about 500 kilometres east of Fort Smith.

The NWT Coroner's Office identified the man as Trent Struby, 49, of Saskatoon.

Sgt. Grant Payne, of the Fort Smith RCMP, said the deceased was alone at the North of 60 Fly-In Fishing Camp to maintain it during the winter. "No one in the NWT has involvement in that camp," said Payne.

The cause of death has not been determined.

While no foul play is suspected, Payne noted, "Until the autopsy and toxicology reports come back, we can't be sure of that."

The body was sent to Edmonton for an autopsy.

When the body was discovered by a trapper from Saskatchewan, RCMP officers from Stony Rapids, Sask., were deployed to secure the scene on March 26. The RCMP in Fort Smith requested the services of "G" Division's major crime unit, forensic identification unit and police dog services to investigate the matter. Four officers, as well as a representative of the NWT Coroner's Office, travelled to the scene on March 27.
